Current Status: Tracking Enabled
You can opt out of non-essential tracking at any time. Essential cookies remain active to keep the platform functional.
What This Policy Covers
PulseWave uses various tracking technologies to improve your experience while learning financial valuation techniques. This policy explains what we track, why we track it, and how you control your preferences.
We're based in Thailand, serving financial analysts across Southeast Asia and beyond. Our tracking practices comply with international standards while respecting your right to privacy.
How Tracking Works on PulseWave
When you visit pulsewaveapp.com, small data files get stored in your browser. These files remember your preferences, track your learning progress, and help us understand how people use our financial education platform.
Think of it like leaving bookmarks in a textbook. When you return, the system remembers where you left off in your DCF modeling lesson or which Excel templates you've downloaded.
Why We Track
Our tracking serves specific purposes: keeping you logged in, remembering your calculator settings, understanding which valuation methods students find most challenging, and improving our course content based on real usage patterns.
Types of Tracking We Use
Essential Functions
These keep the platform working. Without them, you can't log in, save your progress through valuation modules, or access premium content you've purchased. We don't ask permission for these because they're necessary for basic operation.
Examples: session tokens, authentication state, course progress tracking, saved calculator inputs
Functional Preferences
These remember your choices. When you switch between light and dark mode, adjust the complexity level on financial models, or set your preferred currency display, these tracking elements save those preferences.
Examples: theme settings, language preferences, dashboard layout choices, notification settings
Performance Analytics
We track how students move through our content. Which sections of the comparable company analysis module take longest? Where do people get stuck on WACC calculations? This data helps us refine course structure and identify confusing explanations.
Examples: page views, time spent on lessons, quiz completion rates, video watch duration
Marketing Insights
These help us understand which marketing channels bring students to PulseWave. If you clicked an ad about merger models or found us through a finance blog, we track that source to focus our outreach efforts.
Examples: campaign tracking, referral sources, ad performance measurement, conversion tracking
Third-Party Tracking Services
We work with external services that set their own tracking mechanisms. Google Analytics helps us understand traffic patterns. Payment processors like Stripe use tracking to prevent fraud. Video hosting platforms track playback to optimize streaming quality.
Each third party has its own privacy policy. When you decline non-essential tracking, we signal your preference to these services where possible, though some may still collect minimal data for security purposes.
- Analytics platforms that measure user engagement and content effectiveness
- Payment processors that verify transactions and detect fraudulent activity
- Email service providers that track message delivery and engagement
- Video hosting services that optimize streaming performance
- Customer support tools that manage help requests and conversations
Managing Your Tracking Preferences
You control your tracking settings in two ways: through our platform controls or through your browser settings. The button at the top of this page lets you reject non-essential tracking immediately. Your browser gives you more granular control.
Keep in mind that blocking all tracking may affect functionality. You might need to log in repeatedly, lose your course progress, or experience slower load times as the system can't cache your preferences.
Data Retention Periods
Different tracking elements expire at different times. Session data disappears when you close your browser. Preference settings might persist for months or years. Analytics data gets anonymized after a set period.
- Session tracking: Expires when you close your browser or after 24 hours of inactivity
- Functional preferences: Stored for up to 2 years unless you clear them manually
- Analytics data: Retained for 26 months then automatically deleted or anonymized
- Marketing tracking: Typically expires after 90 days unless refreshed by activity
You can delete stored data anytime through your browser settings or by using the rejection button on this page.
Updates to This Policy
We update this policy when we change our tracking practices or add new services. Significant changes get announced through email to active students and a notice on the dashboard.
The "last updated" date at the top reflects our most recent revision. We recommend checking this page periodically if you're concerned about privacy practices, especially if you're using PulseWave regularly for your financial analyst training.
